Philadayphia

Today I whiled away the hours in North Philadelphia and Center City. The first stop was Cafe Saigon, a family-run Vietnamese restaurant which caters to locals looking for an authentic taste of home. We ordered a Vietnamese hoagie, pork chops, and shaky beef with rice and a lemon, salt, and pepper sauce.

That particular area of North Philly is where I grew up and the sights are familiar. Taking photos gave me a better look at an area which I glossed over as a child and have long since left.

Later on, I went to City Hall and the surrounding area. There were many different sights and sounds, such as a blaring song which turned out to be a man in a wheel chair singing into a microphone. There were clacks and clangs from a group of teenage boys skating in front of City Hall, even in the freezing weather. Interesting characters abounded, such as the man on the subway who posed so I could get a shot of him.

The cold probably kept most tourists away, but I felt like one because of my camera despite the fact that I've lived here so long. The trip was a revisit to a place I've known a long time, but hadn't taken a close look at until it came time to photograph it.
